Meet Alex!

Meet Alex, a new xoxoBlythe girl!

Alex arrived sometime last week. I haven’t brought a new girl into the family since Summer 2010 so she was a breath of fresh air 🙂 “Where did she come from? What kind of Blythe is she?” You may ask. Well, her exact origins are unknown – Alex is a little mystery. A very nice friend arranged for Alex to travel from Asia to San Francisco and then to LA to join the xoxoBlythe household. All I know is, she has had enough traveling and is ready to settle down for good.

She immediately nabbed the new EuroTrash dress (it was still in the original packaging!), and I have to say, it looks like it was made just for her. I swear I had no idea she was going to arrive when I bought the dress!

Alex didn’t look like this when she arrived, actually. She had a center-part with her hair all tangled, and was very wide-eyed with all the standard color chips. I gave her a haircut with fuller bangs, made her eyes a little more relaxed, and changed all her eyechips to muted shades of green, gray and brown. I think the actual colors are: Olive (right), Light Gray (left), Apple & Toffee (fronts). They’re from Lydia ages ago. I hadn’t done any customization on RBLs before Alex so I was surprised at how easy it was to open her head. Geez!

(I’m going to sound like a grumpy old man and do the “Well! Back in *MY* day…”)

Anyone remember the days of hacking off chunks of glue under the scalp and using a hand saw to open B heads?! 🙂

Still, her eye chips were pretty stubborn just like the good ole days. I tried the glue stick method without opening her head at first. The first chip came out effortlessly, but the 2nd chip took three unsuccessful tries before I decided to open her up. After soaking the eyeballs in hot sudsy water for an hour, it took about four more hours to go through the seven others. While the glue stick hardened, I knitted a bit and watched Netflix. Talk about multitasking 😉

She seems pretty happy here so far and is enjoying all the colorful vintage stuff I have in the house. It sure looks like she will fit right in!
